The Beast was once a prince who was cursed by an Enchantress because of his selfish personality. Only a person he truly loves who loves him back can break the curse. Being stuck as a beast for years made him grumpy and depressed, which did nothing to warm him up to Belle at first.

About Beast
The Beast was voiced by Robby Benson for the 1991 Disney adaptation of Beauty and the Beast. He is played by Dan Stevens for the 2017 live-action remake.
