Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, more famously known as Eddie Van Halen, is the lead guitarist and composer of the hard rock band Van Halen, as well as one of the founding members along with this brother Alex Van Halen. This Dutch-American rockstar is considered one of the top guitarists in the history of rock, ranked number eight by the Rolling Stone magazine. His guitar solo from the song Eruption occupies second place in the top ten guitar solos of all time, as ranked by Guitar World and Rolling Stone magazine.
Eddie Van Halen’s musical career started at a very young age. Growing up, Eddie and his brother Alex found an interest for Rock & Roll and even developed a style of their own that would eventually make them pioneers in the hard rock genre. Eddie’s style is influenced by other iconic guitar players such as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, George Harrison and Jimmy Page.
Van Halen’s biggest hit albums include Van Halen (1978), Van Halen II (1979), Women and Children First (1980), and more recently A Different Kind of Truth (2012).
