Eddie Van Halen was known to wear colorful clothes riddled with striking patterns, including a white best with big black polka dots and animal print blazers, but perhaps the most famous of his repertoire of excentric outfits is the red overalls covered in black and white stripes he would wear with a red bandana to match the print of his guitar Frankenstrat.
Dance The Night Away Van Halen Style. Here's what you need
|1||Red and white bib overalls||Eddie Van Halen's signature Frankenstrat overall may be hard to find just sitting in a shelf waiting to be taken by a crazed Van Halen fan. So in order to simplify the search, you could just get your hands on one of these red and white bib overalls.|
|2||Red and white bandana||Eddie's red, black and white bandana cannot go missing in your Eddie Van Halen outfit. The pattern doesn't matter matter much as long as it has some black and white printing on it.|
|3||Rockstar wig||If you already have the hair for this look, great, but if you don't, do not hesitate to get yourself one of these wigs modeled after classic 80's rockstar fashion. Long, curly, sweaty hair.|
|4||Electric guitar prop||Eddie Van Halen is famous for his skills with the guitar, so it's only logical that you include one in your costume. Of course, getting a guitar just for a costume may come to an expense to great for just a few hours of pictures, fun an giggles. So instead of buying an actual electric guitar, you could just get a fake like this one and get your inner artist to customize it à la Frankenstrat.|
Plan B: Quick 'n Crafty
|1||Red overall||Start by getting some red overalls. This will be the canvas upon which you will unleash you inner artist to decorate your overall the same way Eddie Van Halen used to wear his.|
|2||Black tape||If you're looking for quick results due to time restraint, perhaps you should consider using strips of black tape instead of dye for fabric.|
|3||White tape||You would do the exact same thing same thing you did with the black tape. And remember these are just random strips of tapes, both black and white, that you would scatter across the entire overall. It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be wild.|
Plan C: Full Crafty
|4||White overall||Now let's assume you have the time to painstakingly fabricate your costume. You'll want to start with some white overalls. This will be your canvas.|
|5||Red dye for clothes||Using some tape as guidelines, get the red dye and color big sections of the overall, but leaving blank spaces, preferably long interconnected lines.|
|6||Black dye for clothes||Last, but not least, use the black dye to add the last details to your costume. Just a fair amount of black stripes randomly scattered and voilá, your costume is ready to dry out.|

Eddie Van Halen's musical career started at a very young age. Growing up, Eddie and his brother Alex found an interest for Rock & Roll and even developed a style of their own that would eventually make them pioneers in the hard rock genre.
