Gollum was once a Hobbit before he became the chief possessor of the One Ring. Due to his exposure to it, Gollum became deformed both in mind and body but lived a remarkably long life. His obsession with the One Ring made him murder his cousin and in turn is the main reason why he was banished by his people.
Gollum’s fixation on the One Ring had drastic effects on his physical form. He wears only a brown loin cloth over his near skeletal body, his hair barely having strands left, and his complexion was very sickly pale.

Gollum was portrayed by Andy Serkis. Serkis is also known for his roles in War for the Planet of the Apes, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
