About Red Guardian

Red Guardian is a character in Marvel Comics that was created as the Soviet equivalent of Captain America. The Red Guardian has been adapted as two separate characters in the Ultimate Marvel continuity: Captain Russia and Colonel Abdul al-Rahma. None of the Red Guardian's various identity users have been revealed to possess superhuman powers or abilities, with the exception of a few adaptations of the character. All of the Guardians are highly skilled athletes, and have used a variety of weapons including shields, swords, and hurling weapons

The character was created by Roy Thomas and John Buscema and first appeared in "The Avengers" #43 in 1967. The mantle of Red Guardian has been held by multiple characters in the Marvel Universe, with the most well-known being Alexei Shostakov, who has ties to Black Widow and the Soviet Union. As a counterpart to Captain America, Red Guardian possesses enhanced strength, agility, and fighting skills. He has been a member of various teams including the Avengers and the Winter Guard. Additionally, Red Guardian made his live-action debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film "Black Widow," portrayed by David Harbour.
