About Christopher Columbus
Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer best known to have landed in the Americas, a new territory unknown to Europe at the time. This credited him as the one who have opened explorations and routes to the new continent.
He was sponsored by the royals of Castile and Aragon, and have landed in the Bahamas in 1492. Through this first landing, he has inaugurated a period that led to conquests in the new land. In the Americas, the second Monday of October is celebrated as Columbus Day and while Spain celebrates it October 12th.
