About Thomas Edison

Thomas Edison was an American inventor most notable for his invention of the light bulb. Other works from Edison include the phonograph and motion picture camera.

He is also a multi-awarded scientist and his accolades include Officer of the Legion of Honour distinction in France, the Navy Distinguished Service Medal from the US Navy, and the American Institute of Electrical Engineers created the Edison Medal (and was first awarded to him) among others.

Thomas Edison first worked as a telegraph operator before going into his earliest inventions. He has over 1,093 US patents to his name and a few other patents outside the country.
