About King Triton
In The Little Mermaid, a Disney animated movie in 1989, King Triton, voiced by Kenneth Mars, is one of main characters. Triton is the widowed, overprotective, albeit well-meaning father of Ariel and her sisters. He is also the great ruler of the underwater kingdom of Atlantica. As King of Atlantica, he owns a powerful magical trident which appears to be made of gold.
His archenemy was Ursula, the old sea witch who was once a senior member of the Court of King Triton. For many years, she had been seeking a way to seek her revenge upon him for banishing her from the kingdom. King Triton is a loving father and husband. However, after the death of his wife he became overwhelmingly strict towards his daughters for he’s scared for their safety.
