Howl and Sophie are the two main characters in the award-winning fantasy novel and Japanese animated film Howl’s Moving Castle. Sophie is an 18-year-old eldest daughter destined to have a “dull” future but was suddenly cursed by a witch to become an old lady. She thus decided to work as a cleaning lady for Howl, a vain, reclusive, and powerfully notorious wizard, hoping that he would be able to lift the curse from her.
Howl and Sophie fell in love and got married. They wear a long-sleeved special casual top, black Victorian trousers, black loafer dress shoes, and a diamond-patterned cloak for Howl; and a long-sleeved pastel green maid dress, white Victorian bloomers, gray leggings, brown ankle boots, and a hat with red trim for Sophie.
About Howl and Sophie (Howl's Moving Castle)
The novel Howl's Moving Castle was a runner-up for the annual Boston Globe–Horn Book Award in 1986, and won the Phoenix Award twenty years later. It was adapted into a critically acclaimed animated film in 2004 and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
