Gnomeo and Juliet are garden gnomes from two feuding gardens, split down the middle by color: Gnomeo's family wears blue, Juliet's wears red. Both looks are just a pointed felt hat and a few plain pieces, so they're an easy couples costume even if you've never sewn a stitch.

|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Blue Pointed Felt Gnome Hat | A tall cone hat in a solid, saturated blue. Gnomeo's hat flops slightly forward at the tip rather than standing perfectly straight. | π Check on Amazon |
| 2 | Grey Long-Sleeve Henley Shirt | Plain heather-grey underneath the vest, with the sleeves showing at the wrist and forearm. | π Check on Amazon |
| 3 | Cobalt Blue Fleece Vest | A bright, solid blue sleeveless vest worn zipped over the grey shirt. This is the single biggest color cue for Gnomeo's "Montague" family. | π Check on Amazon |
| 4 | Wide Black Belt with Gold Buckle | Gnomeo wears a wide black strap with a big rectangular brass buckle across his front. Worn over the vest, this is a close stand-in. | π Check on Amazon |
| 5 | Dark Grey Twill Pants | Plain, slightly loose grey trousers with no pattern. | π Check on Amazon |
| 6 | Black Combat Boots | Gnomeo's boots are chunky and dark, almost like worn work boots. | π Check on Amazon |
| 7 | Grey Adhesive Fake Beard | Gnomeo has short, grey-white stubble along his jaw and a small mustache, not a long wizard beard. A trimmed, close adhesive beard reads much closer to the character than a full costume beard. | π Check on Amazon |
Gnomeo's whole look is a plain blue vest and grey shirt combo, so the color has to be exactly right: a bright, saturated blue, not navy or sky blue. Keep the beard short and scruffy rather than long and flowing β the character's face is closer to a young man with heavy stubble than to a traditional lawn-gnome Santa beard.

| 1 | Red Pointed Felt Gnome Hat | Same style as Gnomeo's hat, in red instead of blue β Juliet's "Capulet" family color. | π Check on Amazon |
| 2 | Short Wavy Brown Wig with Bangs | Juliet has chin-length, softly waved brown hair with side-swept bangs. | π Check on Amazon |
| 3 | Black Lace-Up Bodice Vest | A fitted, square-necked black vest worn over a top β this covers Juliet's dark, rustic bodice without going full corset. | π Check on Amazon |
| 4 | White Half Waist Apron | A plain white apron tied at the waist over the skirt, exactly as Juliet wears hers while tending the garden. | π Check on Amazon |
| 5 | Red Midi Skirt | A flared, bright red skirt that falls just below the knee. | π Check on Amazon |
| 6 | Black Mary Jane Flats | Simple black flats with a strap, close to Juliet's plain shoes. | π Check on Amazon |
Juliet's costume is built the same way as Gnomeo's β hat color first, then a dark bodice and an apron over a plain skirt. Wear the apron over the skirt, not tucked under the bodice, so the white shows clearly against the red.
Getting the details right
The single most important detail for either costume is the hat color, since it's the shorthand the film itself uses to tell the two families apart: blue is Gnomeo's side, red is Juliet's. Don't mix them or swap a hat between the two costumes.
For the ceramic-gnome look, skip face paint that tries to fake a glossy stone texture β it reads as messy in photos. A light dusting of pale/porcelain foundation with rosy circles on the cheeks gets you most of the way there, especially combined with the plain, slightly stiff-looking clothes.
Gnomeo and Juliet group costume
If you want more than a couple, recruit friends as the rival families: a blue plush gnome onesie and a red gnome tunic-and-vest set fill out a "garden war" group on either side, with Gnomeo and Juliet as the two in the middle who cross sides.
About Gnomeo and Juliet
Gnomeo & Juliet is a 2011 animated film loosely based on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, swapping the warring houses of Verona for two garden gnome families divided by a fence: the blue-hatted gnomes of the Montague garden and the red-hatted gnomes of the Capulet garden next door. Gnomeo, voiced by James McAvoy, and Juliet, voiced by Emily Blunt, fall for each other despite their families' feud, which escalates from lawn-ornament pranks into real danger.
The film was directed by Kelly Asbury and produced by Elton John and David Furnish's Rocket Pictures, with Elton John also serving as executive producer and lending several of his songs to the soundtrack. It was released theatrically by Touchstone Pictures (Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures) on February 11, 2011, and went on to gross about $194 million worldwide against a $36 million budget, becoming the highest-grossing winter-released animated film at the time. The supporting voice cast includes Michael Caine, Maggie Smith, Jason Statham as the villainous Tybalt, and Patrick Stewart voicing a stone statue of William Shakespeare.
A sequel, Sherlock Gnomes (2018), picks up with Gnomeo and Juliet living in London, where they team up with the detective gnome Sherlock Gnomes (voiced by Johnny Depp) after the garden's other gnomes go missing.
