About The Three Little Pigs

The Three Little Pigs is best known as a fable featuring three pigs who make houses out of different materials (straw, sticks, and bricks). A Big Bad Wolf comes and blows the first two houses down, but was unable to blow the last one made of bricks. The lines exchanged on the traditional fable goes like: “Little pig, little pig, let me come in." “No, not by the hair on my chinny chin chin.” “Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house in.”

The story begins with the three little pigs leaving their family home to seek their fortune. Each pig decides to build a house using different materials. The first pig builds his house out of straw, which provides quick and easy construction but lacks sturdiness. The second pig chooses sticks for his house, offering a bit more durability than straw but still relatively weak. The third and wisest pig decides to build his house with bricks, knowing it will take more time and effort but result in a strong and secure structure.

As the pigs settle into their respective homes, they encounter danger in the form of a hungry wolf who comes knocking on their doors. The wolf easily blows down the houses of the first two pigs made from straw and sticks, sending them running to seek shelter with their brother in the brick house.

The wolf then attempts to blow down the sturdy brick house but fails due to its solid construction. Foiled by his failed attempts, he resorts to trickery to gain entry into the brick house. However, the clever pigs manage to outsmart him at every turn until eventually trapping him.

With the villain defeated, the three little pigs live happily ever after in their secure brick house, realizing that preparation and hard work have paid off.

This classic fable teaches important lessons about resourcefulness, perseverance, and making wise decisions. It emphasizes the value of diligent planning as opposed to taking shortcuts or choosing easy paths when faced with challenges.

Over time, this timeless tale has been adapted into various forms including books, cartoons, plays, and movies. Its enduring popularity lies in its ability to entertain young readers while conveying valuable life lessons about resilience and problem-solving skills.
