Boromir is the Fellowship's most human member: a proud Captain of Gondor who carries a warrior's gear, a borrowed elven brooch and the weight of a besieged kingdom. His look is easy to build from the ground up because it is mostly dark, layered and practical, with one unmistakable accessory, the Horn of Gondor, that tells everyone who you are.

|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Long Straight Brown Wig | Boromir's hair is sandy brown to dark blond, worn straight to about the shoulders and a little unkempt, with stubble to match. Trim this wig to shoulder length and tousle it rather than combing it neat. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
| 2 | Black Lace-Up Tunic | A dark long-sleeve tunic with a laced collar, the base layer under the mail. Long sleeves matter because only the forearms show chainmail. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
| 3 | Faux Chainmail Tunic with Belt | A lightweight faux chainmail shirt in a metal-look weave, worn over the tunic so the dark sleeves and collar still show at the edges. It is far lighter and quieter than real mail. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
| 4 | Faux Fur Shoulder Collar | Boromir's cloak sits on heavy, fur-textured shoulders. This tan faux fur mantle sits under the cloak to give that bulky northern-soldier outline. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
| 5 | Brown Hooded Cloak | A long, dark brown cloak with a leather-style clasp, worn thrown back off the shoulders. This is the layer that does the most work in photos. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
| 6 | Elven Leaf Cloak Clasp | The silver leaf brooch Galadriel gives each member of the Fellowship at Lothlรณrien, worn at the throat to hold the cloak. Swap it in for the cloak's own clasp. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
| 7 | Black Leather Gauntlet Gloves | Long-cuffed black leather gloves. Boromir wears them almost all the time, including when he lifts the horn. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
| 8 | Black Leather Arm Bracers | Laced leather vambraces over the forearm, covering the cuff of the gloves and the end of the chainmail sleeve. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
| 9 | Brown Belt with Sword Frog | A wide brown leather belt with a loop for hanging the sword at your left hip. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
| 10 | Dark Brown Lace-Cuff Trousers | Loose dark brown trousers that gather at the ankle, so they tuck cleanly into the boots. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
| 11 | Dark Brown Knee-High Boots | Lace-up knee boots in dark brown leather, the tall, plain boots of a soldier on the road. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
| 12 | Horn of Gondor Drinking Horn | A real cream-coloured horn with a leather strap. Sling it across your body to hang at your hip, the way Boromir carries it. This is the item that makes the costume. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
| 13 | Foam Medieval Sword | A soft PU foam sword with a black grip and a grey blade. Obviously fake on purpose, so it clears security at conventions and parties. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
| 14 | Round Wood-Look Shield | A lightweight toy round shield in weathered red-brown with a metal-look boss, close to Boromir's round Gondorian shield. | ๐ Check on Amazon |
Layer in this order: tunic, mail shirt, fur collar, belt, then the cloak over everything, pinned with the leaf brooch. Add the gloves and bracers last, hang the horn from the shoulder and slide the foam sword into the belt loop. The dark, heavy palette is the whole look, so avoid shiny or costume-store plastic pieces up top.
Getting the details right
There is no purpose-made replica of the Horn of Gondor that is also safe to carry, so the drinking horn above is the closest real match: a cream horn with a strap. If you want the silver bands from the film, wrap two strips of silver craft tape or thin metallic ribbon around the wide end and the mouthpiece. For a cheaper stand-in, a medieval fantasy drinking horn works as a lighter prop.
Keep every weapon visibly a prop. The foam sword and plastic shield in the table are obviously fake, and that is deliberate, because many conventions, schools and Halloween venues ban real metal blades, airsoft-style replicas and anything that looks sharp. Check the event's weapons policy before you arrive, and be ready to sling the sword onto your back or leave the shield at the door.
Posture sells it more than the gear does. Boromir is a Captain of Gondor: stand tall, a little grim, and give the horn a strong lift when someone has a camera pointed at you. For a quick line to quote, "One does not simply walk into Mordor" is the scene everyone will ask for.
Dressing as the full company? Boromir pairs naturally with Samwise Gamgee, the Hobbit travelling party and the rest of the Fellowship, and the cloak and leaf brooch are shared across every member's costume.
About Boromir
Boromir is the elder son of Denethor II, the Steward of Gondor, and brother to Faramir. He is a Captain of the White Tower and a great warrior who has spent his life defending Gondor against Mordor's armies. He travels to Rivendell after a dream about a broken sword and "Isildur's Bane", and he joins the Fellowship of the Ring as the representative of Men.
Boromir is the only member of the Fellowship who is strongly tempted by the Ring, because he believes its power could save his people. After he tries to take it from Frodo at Amon Hen, he realises what he has done, and spends his last moments defending the hobbits Merry and Pippin against the Uruk-hai. He dies from his wounds in Aragorn's arms, after asking forgiveness and telling Aragorn that he would have followed him as his king. His horn is heard blowing in the forest as the Uruk-hai attack.
In Peter Jackson's films, Boromir was played by Sean Bean.
