A cactus costume is easy to recognise, funny and works for almost any group. How to Get the Details Right
- Choose your cactus. The tall saguaro look has two arms bent upward, like items 1 to 3. A round "barrel" or potted cactus works better with item 2 or 4.
- The flower matters. Cactus flowers are usually pink, so a pink flower on your head or shoulder tells people it is a cactus and not a pickle or a cucumber.
- Add spines. On a plain green onesie, stick on white felt or craft pieces, or draw short white lines with a fabric pen. Keep them small and soft so nobody gets scratched.

About Cactus
Cacti are a plant family of about 1,750 known species, native to the Americas, from Patagonia to western Canada. The one exception is Rhipsalis baccifera, which grows in Africa and Sri Lanka. Their spines are modified leaves, and water can be up to 90% of a cactus's total mass. The saguaro often grows its first arm at 75 to 100 years old, and some never grow arms at all. It routinely lives 150 to 200 years, and its white flower is the state wildflower of Arizona.
