Chel is a local of the village that Tulio and Miguel discover, and she becomes the girlfriend of Tulio. She is very cunning, clever, and sassy which are traits that allowed her to help the two Spaniards succeed with their lie and return to Spain with them. She is also brave and adventurous which compliments well with her chosen group.
As an indigenous woman, Chel is depicted wearing her native costume. She wears a white bandeau with red and pink fabric on top, a white long-slit skirt, and turquoise bangles.
