About John Smith
Captain John Smith, voiced by Mel Gibson, is a supporting character in the 1995 Disney animated movie Pocahontas. John Smith is a handsome, young, English explorer and adventurer, and soldier who seemed to already have a reputation with a lot of adventures and travelings, as Thomas mentions that there are “amazing stories about him.”
Therefore, John is also well-known at defeating savage tribes. At the beginning, when he and his crew are at the New World, John has quite a prejudiced view toward the natives, but his encounter with Pocahontas slowly change his view and opinion. Then only after awhile, he finds himself falling in love with Pocahontas amid the conflict that grows between his and her people.
