Iduna's outfit is quiet next to her daughters' ice-blue gowns, so the details do the work. Layer it the way the film does: lavender top first, the dark bodice dress over it so only the collar and sleeves show, then drape the shawl so the fringe falls over your shoulders and the embroidered panel sits on the chest. A plain pin or brooch at the throat keeps the shawl from slipping.
The colours read warmer in person than in the film, where the scene is lit in purple and magenta light. In the references her shawl is a deep plum-burgundy, not a bright red, so choose the darkest wine shade you can find.
Want to spend less? A plain burgundy fringed shawl costs about half as much and still gets the colour and the fringe, though you lose the embroidered panels. If you would rather do your own hair, brush it dark, then pin a braid around the crown of your head into a low bun. A dark brown wig in a different style also works.
Group and Couples Ideas
Iduna is the missing piece of an Arendelle family costume. Go as her with a daughter or friends dressed as Elsa and Anna, and recreate the lullaby scene where she holds both girls on the couch. Add a King Agnarr in a dark military-style coat, and you have the royal family from Frozen 2's flashbacks.
About Queen Iduna
Iduna is the mother of Elsa and Anna and the queen consort of Arendelle, married to King Agnarr. She appears briefly in Frozen, where she kneels over Anna and says she is "ice cold", and has a much bigger role in Frozen II. The sequel reveals that she was born into the Northuldra, the people of the Enchanted Forest, and that she called on the Wind Spirit to save the young prince Agnarr during a battle in the forest. She left with him for Arendelle and later became its queen.
Her story also explains the mystery of her death: she and Agnarr were lost at sea while sailing to find Ahtohallan, the river of memory. Her lullaby, "All Is Found", leads Elsa and Anna to the truth, and Elsa later wears her mother's scarf as a keepsake. Iduna is voiced by Evan Rachel Wood in Frozen II, and by Jennifer Lee Chance in the first film.
