About Inside Out
Inside Out is about the interior happenings inside the mind of a young girl named Riley, particularly the 5 basic emotions that control her actions: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger.
The five act as a team, with Joy as their leader, to manage how Riley’s experiences form into “core memories” and affect her overall growth and happiness. Sadness tells others when Riley needs help.
Sadness is often seen as a negative emotion, but she is actually very important. Without sadness, we would not be able to appreciate happiness. She helps us understand our own emotions and how to deal with them.
The Inside Out Sadness emotion was voiced by Phyllis Smith.
