Doc Ock is a brilliant nuclear physicist and friend of Peter Parker who encountered an accident while experimenting with a fusion reactor using powerful robotic tentacle arms equipped with artificial intelligence, causing the arms to fuse to his body and to control his nervous system. He eventually sacrificed his life by sinking himself and the fusion reactor into a river, but was magically revived in a later movie.
